CE Fire Dawgs Assist FSS with Safe Reopen of Favorite Dining Spot
By Sara Harr, 8th Force Support Squadron
(Kunsan AB, RoK)- The 8th Civil Engineering Squadron Fire and Emergency Services Flight recently averted a potential disaster by assisting the 8th Force Support Squadron with the new Pepper’s Bar & Grill at Kunsan Air Base’s West Winds Golf Course.
As part of normal operating procedures, CE Fire Dawgs performed a full safety inspection on the soon-to-be-reopened Pepper’s Bar & Grill, noting discrepancies that could have resulted in a tragedy. In 2001, Pepper’s originally opened at Kunsan AB; however, the duct systems were improperly modified, resulting in a severe fire hazard.
“Although the contractor is ready, willing, and able to open the facility, we’re unable to operate the kitchen until the duct system is replaced,” said Mr. Lon Shadel, 8th Force Support Squadron deputy. “The CE Red Devils are on it and working a contract to replace the system and resolve the issue,” Mr. Shadel continued.
“We definitely want to extend our gratitude to the CE Fire Dawgs for catching this discrepancy,” said Major Garry Alexander, 8th Force Support Squadron operations officer. “We want to make sure every member of the Wolf Pack enjoys a meal in a safe environment, and our fellow MSG teammates played an integral role in this goal.”
Once renovation of the duct work is complete, Pepper’s Bar and Grille will offer a wide range of menu selections. Pepper’s lounge is open for business now—Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. We invite all members of the Wolf Pack to visit Pepper’s Lounge to enjoy a refreshing beverage in a relaxed atmosphere!
